10+ coolest places in LONDON

Forget about Buckingham palace and London Eye

.

Well, yes, if you want to enjoy a different, less crowded London, read more. And I wrote about Buckingham palace (which I really wouldn’t visit second time) and other popular places here.

.

Let’s do this. This is my list of unusual places to visit in London:

.

1. Neon craziness in God’s Own Junkyard

.

The name itself suggests that this will be a crazy ride, and it really is! In fact, it’s a bar, but it rather reminds me a hovel stuffed with neon, glitter, blinking sings and pictures… which you definitely must see. This is simply not hovel you could find on your grandma’s garden 😀.

2. Camden Town and its spots

.

This place is more famous, but it definitely belongs to this list. Not only the architecture is special here, but also quirky stuff you can’t buy anywhere else. I especially recommend visiting disco shop Cyberdog. And you should also walk among bazaars, urban food stalls and cute cafés

3. Hindu temple almost like in India

.

Let’s rest for awhile after above mentioned crowded places. You don’t have to travel to India to visit Hindu temple, you can visit beautiful Neasden Temple. It is situated 15 minutes by foot from Neasden metro station.

4. Beautiful views, but not from the Eye

.

Some say that if you haven’t been on London Eye, you haven’t been in London at all, but I disagree. There are few more beautiful views, which are free! One of them is terrace on the 10th floor of Tate Modern gallery and another is the roof garden on the top of Sky Garden. But first, you should register for free here. Be accurate on time and don’t carry any sharp objects or liquids, as they will be confiscated right away.

5. Street art in Shoreditch

.
I’m not sure if there’s any other neighborhood with bigger concentration of beautiful graffiti than Shoreditch. It’s all over the place, but if you really don’t know where to go, then Brick Lane, Whitby street E1 or the more distant Nomadic Community Garden are the best picks.

6. Take a walk along Thames

.

Terraces, where you can drink beer and play jenga or ping ping or else, street performers, music, pleasant view, mini festivals of street food… should I continue?

7. Antique shops on Portobello Road and colorful Notting Hill

.

Every day, market of antiquities is held on Portobello Road and you can also meet street performers there. In Notting Hill, you can take photos with beautifully colorful background. In the area, there are many beautiful streets, the most popular is Denbigh Terrace.

8. Covent Garden and Neal’s Yard

.

Covent Garden is another lively market with beautiful decor in spring. On the way to Neal’s Yard – another pretty corner, you will see many beautiful, typical British pubs an bars.

9. Little Venice is really little… but nice

.

When it’s nice outside, walk around Little Venice with colorful ships and cafés and pleasant atmosphere.

10. Parks

.

Whichever you choose, it will be okay – beautiful grass fields, flowers, animals. If there aren’t any interesting events at the moment, you can for example go to the Speaker’s Corner in Hyde park and hear what passers-by want to say. Parks are amazing also for relax with kids – look at THIS playground (where I would also go and play  😁).

11. Museums are free in London

.

And that’s great, because even if you don’t like it, you can leave anytime. Which museums are free? For example above mentioned Tate Modern with beautiful view or Victoria & Albert Museum (my favorite). You can find whole list here.
